Safe in London
After a 4 hour flight delay and a 2nd delay to take 2 unidentified pieces of luggage off our flight, we made it into the air around 2am Phoenix time. The flight was smooth and we arrived fairly well rested in London. Sadly, we canceled our bike tour yesterday due to our late plane.. Instead, we headed to the Winter Wonderland (German festival) at Hyde park and then walked past Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. It was beautiful and a good but freezing night overall. Oddly, almost every restaurant in London closes at 11pm, and I promise we tried to go to most of them. We ended up eating dinner at a pizza place (and Robin and Katie's pizza had corn on it.)Off to India tomorrow!

Packing up the rucksack!

I am sitting here in Colorado after just finishing a long run. I woke up early to brave the 5 degree (yes, that is right...5 degree) weather to clear my head and gain some perspective on my upcoming adventure. It is amazing that today I am here with my family celebrating my favorite holiday and tomorrow I will board a plane to another world! I was reflecting on my past travels as I ran around the frozen lake near my house. The path, which is usually so familiar to me because I have run it a thousand times, today was snow/ice covered and hard to follow. This morning I couldn't help but feel very similar to that path, so please pardon the cliche parallel. The path of life isn't often straight and easy. There are twists, turns (sometimes U-turns:) and unusualities (sorry mom for using a made up word!) that truly make this life worth living. I am so excited for tomorrow. I am lucky and blessed to have the opportunity to both teach and learn and grow and travel with good friends on an amazing mission. Our trip is rooted in the solid foundation of the support from family and friends. Without them we would be unable to fly. Next step...finish packing! Bon Voyage!

London here we come
Our plane leaves at 9 pm on December 27th. We fly directly to London and have a 24 hour layover there. We have no plans to sleep, rather to paint the town red. We've booked a 3.5 hour bicycle tour to see the city at night and of course plan to find some pubs. Once back on our plane and on our way to India, Katie is leading the 3 of us in airplane Pilates! Who knows what will happen once we land in Bangalore.
